"Great Blog, to funny, and OMG The drive thru story had me RFLMAO. Loved it. The links all seemed to open quickly and easily and it reads and navigates well. Great color not overbearing. The site is very well put together and just plain great. Thank you Leila"

Word to the Wise: Clip Nails When Your Baby is Asleep!

Our baby boy was a little more wiggly than normal today. But that didn’t stop me from trying to cut his fingernails.

I’ve got scratches all over my face and arms from our mini-Freddy Kruger. And lately, he’s been grabbing my bottom lip and pulling. And digging in with his scissorhands.

So I decided it necessary to cut his nails. I should have waited until he was sleeping, but he was fighting his naps, so I pressed on with the task.

And, just as we were approaching home (I had one thumb left, then we were done), something AWFUL happened: He made a sudden jerk, and I took off a chunk of his skin with the clippers!

He bled for what seemed like forever, and cried for about an hour. I felt like such a horrible mom!!

But the bleeding eventually stopped, and Ben eventually stopped crying (and fell asleep), so I decided not to report myself to child protective services. For now.

  1. My wife learned this when Michael was about three months old. So much easier to clip his nails when he is out for the count!

    God Bless!

  2. Awwww, I’m so sorry, but don’t beat yourself up too much. We’ve all been through this. So far, I think I’ve clipped the skin of 3 out of 4. Lucky for me, the last one — who’s 8 months now — likes to sit and watch me clip her nails! This is surprising because she’s the wiggliest child I’ve had. I think she’s already a diva who likes to get her nails done! 🙂

  3. Tricky Little things nails,,,got 3 kids myself, its bloody hard I tell YOU! 🙂
